我聽過很多人老了以後都說同樣的話，尤其人文學科的人，很多他們會說如果沒有出國（唸書），可能省下來的錢都可以當包租公了。
但是這真的是這樣能省這麼多嗎？當包租公，有可能這樣就辦到了嗎？我也不知道。

這次是邀請藝術家，所以在美國的簽證中，可以申請B1/B2的簽證～

但是去AIT面試時，我其實蠻緊張的。因為這個B1/B2簽證不能打工。簽證官問了我幾個問題：
我為什麼要待這麼久？
我在美國會工作有收入嗎？
我在台灣的工作是什麼？
當我跟他說我會手作的時候，面試官的表情有點怪，這個簽證只能當觀光訪客，不能做事吧？

藝術創作很難能不手作啊。感覺得出來面試官很關心我能不能支付美國高昂的生活開銷。

最後在緊張的回覆以後，終於拿到簽證了。距離出發又更一步！

 "「抽象城市與新考古學」是我芝加哥駐村計畫的核心。芝加哥作為現代化城市，從它的街道、建築和文化結構中，我希望尋找靈感。透過城市的紋理與材質，尋找「新的感覺」。在駐村期間，我計劃製作概念性的馬賽克設計圖，和小規模的馬賽克模型，並記錄和整理美國石材的獨特之處。

       我在芝加哥的主要目標之一是加深我對「大型公共藝術馬賽克」製作的理解，我希望學習這種方法，並將其融入我的創作中。例如，地鐵站的壁畫、公共空間、大型建築牆面等大型作品的技術，以及馬賽克專案的財務規劃。這將增強我設計和製作大型馬賽克，特別是天然石材馬賽克的能力。透過合作與探索，我希望了解美國工匠，如何結合石材與建築來創造馬賽克藝術品。

 "Abstract City and New Archaeology" is the central focus of my CMS residency proposal. I aim to explore Chicago's unique characteristics as a contemporary urban environment, seeking inspiration from its streets, architecture, and cultural fabric. I aim to find a "new sense"—a fresh starting point—through the lens of the city's textures and materials. During my residency, I plan to produce conceptual mosaic design drawings and small-scale production models and document and organize the distinctive properties of American stone.
       One of my primary goals at CMS is to deepen my understanding of large-scale public art mosaic production, a method I am eager to learn and integrate into my practice. I want to experience the techniques used to create expansive works like murals in subway stations, public spaces, large architectural walls, and mosaic project financial planning. This will strengthen my capacity to design and produce large-scale mosaics, especially natural stone ones. Through collaboration and exploration, I aim to understand how American artisans integrate stone and architecture to create mosaic artworks.
       Additionally, I am excited to experiment with diverse materials and techniques, pushing the boundaries of my current artistic practice. CMS provides an ideal environment for these explorations, as it is a hub for mosaic art and an opportunity to connect with the American mosaic community. I am particularly interested in engaging with American mosaic artists, the American Mosaic Society, and other art organizations. Building these connections will enhance my understanding of American mosaic traditions and foster potential cross-border collaborations between Taiwan and the United States.
       The CMS residency will allow me to expand my technical skills, immerse myself in Chicago's public art and architectural culture, and develop meaningful international relationships, opening the door to future creative partnerships and cultural exchange.
